dan taylor, piano
Dan Taylor has been performing and studying music since his first piano lesson at age seven. In 2006 he earned his undergraduate degree in music from Central Washington University. From 2006 – 2008 Dan taught piano privately for Prosser Piano and Organ before returning to CWU to complete his Master’s Degree in Piano in 2011 and obtain his teaching certification in the spring of 2012.
As a pianist for CWU Jazz Band I and Vocal Jazz I, Dan was able to perform with some of the greatest young jazz musicians and professionals from the state of Washington and around the world. While at CWU Dan was able to spend time studying from some of the best music teachers and faculty in the country including Dr. John Pickett, Larry Gookin, and Chris Bruya.
In the spring of 2012, Dan completed his student teaching experience with the award winning Edmonds-Woodway High School band program under the direction of Jake Bergevin. During the 2012-2013 school year Dan worked as the band director at The Northwest School, filling in for world class trumpeter and educator Jim Sisko. Dan is now the full time band and 8th grade choir director at Twin Falls Middle School in North Bend, Washington.
Dan has always been in love with both classical and jazz music, and his playing style reflects the mixture of these two art forms.
